When you start looking at weight loss programs, or programs for detoxification, you will most likely come across something called the 48 hour detox diet. In fact, there are many detox diets that go by this name, and you must use caution. What is the 40 hour detox diet?

Anne Hathaway’s 48 Hour Detox Diet
The most widely known 48 hour detox diet comes to us from Anne Hathaway, even though it isn’t exactly her diet. It’s just a diet that her personal trainer puts her on from time to time. His name is David Kirsch, and the diet consists of a lemonade recipe created by him.
There are also a variety of products that you can purchase that are called the 48 Hour Detox Diet, or have reference to a 48 hour detox in their brand name. Before using any of these products, you need to find out what ingredients are used, whether food is involved, and so much more information. Ideally, you should talk to your doctor before trying any of these products, because many are nothing more than junk. At the worst, some could cause you harm.
What Do the Experts Say?
The experts say that this type of 48 hour detox program actually does more harm than good. They also report that the lemonade recipe is more likely to increase the toxins in your body, instead of giving you the desired outcome, which is to decrease the toxins.
It is also reported by experts that you are more likely to lose a great deal of muscle while on this diet and that it crashes your metabolism, which of course does nothing in terms of true fat loss. At most, you will only lose some water weight.
What is a Better Alternative to the 48 Hour Detox Diet?
A better alternative is a juice fast, which lasts for about eight days, and consists of a variety of vegetable juices that you make from fresh vegetables. You are allowed to drink all of the juice that you want to drink, and because you are essentially consuming vegetables, you are not starving yourself. This type of detox is considered healthy.
Of course, most people in the medical field will tell you that there is no need to go on any form of detox diet, because the body has its own natural detoxification system built in. However, if that system isn’t operating as it was intended to, a detox diet can do you a great deal of good – as long as it is the right diet.
