What Is Nymfomania?

There are various explanations of nymphomania, from both the specialists and those who always have an opinion. Nymphomania is the exacerbated sexual desire in women. Nymphomania’s causes are various: Oedipus conflicts, insufficient desire assurances from the woman’s partner, unconscious attitude of revenge against men, an obsessive colectionism. It’s characterized by the constant search of erotic experiences that usually leave the woman unsatisfied. Nymphomania can be considered an illness to the extent that produces a chronic frustration. The treatment of this condition is usually psychotherapy or psychoanalysis.

The Portrait of a Nympho

A nympho will never be fully satisfied. She finds it very difficult to reach orgasm and always fails to fully release her entire sexual energy.  She lives with the feeling that it may get better but has no patience to get used to a partner.

A nympho isn’t a woman with a huge sexual appetite. She’s rather a frigid woman, forever unsatisfied, trying to heal this inability by constantly increasing the number of her relationships with men (or women) in a continuous search for utopian pleasures. She is obsessed with changing sexual partners as often as possible in order to obtain sexual satisfaction that she always fails to acquire.

It is noteworthy that many are victims of an education too rigid and strict, even repressive. Others have suffered sexual and psychological trauma (rape, pedophilia, physical violence).

The term “nympho” is often used quite vulgar to describe a woman who has an overflowing sexual appetite, which is perceived as something rather positive (especially for her partners!). Instead, true nymphomania is a disease of the brain and not of the body. It is a psycho-sexual affection that touches on some women suffering from major neuroses and mental disturbances.

It’s not about an intense sexual appetite, or a very intense one. You can make love several times a day without being considered a nympho. Real nymphomania is sometimes characterized by a deep sexual dissatisfaction, a constant frustration. In this case, love does not offer any pleasure or relief, on the contrary. Most of the times the nympho is looking for a strictly localized bodily pleasure.

Contemporary culture considers the sexual desires of a woman so normal that labeling a woman as nympho is a malicious remark. An increased sexual desire for her partner, the pleasure of having sex more times a day, or even fantasizing about it often doesn’t make a woman nympho.
