By making smart choices for the foods you eat you can begin to decrease the problems you may be having with oily skin.

You are what You Eat
If you include foods in your diet that are greasy and full of oils this is reflected in your skin. Meats and poultry that contain a lot of fat contribute to the problems of oily skin. When shopping choose foods that are high in unsaturated fats instead of those high in saturated fats to aid in decreasing oily complexions. Sugar and salt have also been proven to be unhealthy for your complexion.
Greens, Vegetables and Fruits
Eating a healthy diet with fresh fruits and vegetables is not only good for your skin it is great for your overall health. There are some that are especially noteworthy in helping to balance and reduce the oiliness of the skin. These include green vegetables, cabbage, parsley, cucumbers, tomatoes and most fresh fruits. Many of these can be added to meals you are already preparing. You might also just include a small simple salad with your meals and include lettuce, tomato and some cucumber for your overall health and to help achieve a healthy glowing complexion.
Adequate Fluids Required
Hydration is one of the very best things you can do for your skin. When you are not getting enough fluid your skin dries out. Dehydration does not stop oily skin it only increases the problem. Applying lotions and oils is also not the answer for proper skin hydration. Hydration from within the body should include an adequate intake of water every day. Drinking approximately 2.5 liters of water each day can help stop oily skin. When your body is lacking hydration it works hard to replace the fluid in an attempt to replace the missing fluids it will increase the secretion of oil through the pores. Yarrow Tea is reported as being beneficial in decreasing oily complexions.
