Some physicians are of the opinion that immunizations that are supposed to prevent illness in children have actually increased the incidence of hospitalization. There are a lot of debates about vaccination on an ongoing basis and the debates won’t likely end.
While the lifesaving benefits of vaccinations can’t be debated, part of the problem lies in the side effects and potential dangers. It has now come to light that there may be a link between Vitamin C and warding off the ill effects as the result of vaccines.
The Truth Behind Vaccinations
Did you know that if children did not receive any vaccines that the incidence of hospitalization for asthma and related health issues would decrease by an estimated 90%? This is what Dr. Mayer Eisenstein purports and he backs up this claim by pointing to medical studies that prove his point.
At a recent medical conference, Dr. Lawrence Palevsky maintained that the so-called benefits of receiving early vaccinations are highly exaggerated and have never been proven. Conversely, the risks are great and have received little mention.
Some of these risks could be avoided if vaccinations are delayed until adolescence or older. Even modifications to the current recommended set of childhood immunizations could be beneficial, such as relying on single vaccines instead of combination formulas.
Currently, laws in the United States vary by state but each one does have certain requirements in place regarding the immunization schedule for children attending public schools. In this regard, citizens do not really have a choice. Dr. Eisenstein and others like him are trying to change this situation by educating parents in order to more knowledgably assess the risk to benefit ratio.
The Vitamin C Link
When there is no way around the system that currently requires children be vaccinated, then the next best step may be to use Vitamin C to combat the ill effects.
One study completed in Australia demonstrated this. In Australia, children of Aborigine descent were found to be particularly sensitive to immunizations and often died after receiving the injections. In the study, a group of immunized children was given Vitamin C in oral form immediately following the vaccination. This was shown to have a positive effect by diminishing intestinal problems and stomach upset, and also greatly reducing the death rate.
How Does Vitamin C Work?
Those who seem to have the most adverse reactions to vaccinations are children who already have a weakened immune system. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant vitamin with the ability to boost the body’s immunity
If your child is scheduled for upcoming vaccinations, you may want to consider adding vitamin C supplements to their diet the day of the scheduled immunization and following four days. This can be administered orally as drops, capsules, or chewable vitamins. Real vitamin C is always better than pill form so ensuring the child’s diet is rich in fruits and vegetables may also be beneficial.
It is up to each individual to decide whether or not vaccines do more harm than good and act upon that choice accordingly. However, the link between Vitamin C and the side effects of vaccinations could provide some relief to worried parents.
