The Cabbage Soup Diet: Can It Really Be Healthy?

The cabbage soup diet is often referred to as a fad diet, because it is a diet plan that is not meant for long term use. This diet requires that you cabbage soup every day which may get a bit tiring. This is why the cabbage soup diet is not meant for people that have a lot of weight to loose. It is recommended for people that need to loose about 10 pounds.

The Seven Day Plan

Day 1 of the cabbage soup diet requires that you eat cabbage soup and as much fruit as you want except bananas. As with all diets, water is the recommended beverage. By just eating cabbage and fruit and drinking water you are letting your body get rid of the fluids that is making your body fat.

Day 2 you can eat cabbage soup and you can have vegetables along with on potato and butter and you can still drink water. By adding more food you will begin to see your energy level increase.

Day 3 you can have cabbage soup, fruits and vegetables but you can not have potatoes or bananas. The more food you are allowed to eat the better your energy and metabolism will be. With more energy and metabolism you can begin to work exercise into your routine.

Day 4 lets you eat cabbage soup along with as much as eight bananas and skim milk. Now you are adding the needed calcium to keep your bones strong and potassium.

Day 5 lets you eat cabbage soup, 6 tomatoes and up to 20 oz. of beef and

Day 6 lets you eat cabbage soup and as much vegetables and beef, as you would like except potatoes.

Day 7 lets you eat cabbage soup and vegetables except potatoes, brown rice and juice that is not sweetened.

By the time you get through day 7 you will most likely hate cabbage soup. This is why the cabbage soup diet is not a diet that you will want to stick to for a long time.

Many people believe that the weight that is lost on the cabbage soup diet is because of the water and will not stay off when you stop with the diet. It is also believed that because the soup recipes are extremely bland, people will not stick to the diet very long.

If you are a person that likes soup and fruits and vegetables then you may want to try the cabbage soup diet. If you have a few pounds to lose and are not looking for a long term diet then the cabbage soup diet may be the one for you. No matter what your goal or your purpose for wanting to go on the cabbage soup diet is you should consult your doctor before you start. If you don’t like cabbage you need to try another diet.

As with any diet you may also want to include drinking water and an exercise routine.
