Ten New Age Healing Approaches

New age healing encompasses many different alternative medicine approaches that can be effective in improving health as well as mental and emotional states. Following are 10 new age healing approaches that can benefit many people, depending on their conditions.

Ten New Age Healing Approaches

1. Auras are energy fields that surround the body. Reading aura involves recognizing colors in the energy field that are signs of physical, emotional and mental conditions. Those who read auras are thought to be able to detect illness before physical symptoms appear. Removing negative energy cleanses the aura, promoting health.

2. Aromatherapy uses essential oils and other fragrances to balance the mind, body, and spirit. Techniques can improve mood, relieve stress, and relieve nausea, among many other benefits.

3. Astral projection uses the dream state to help the individual reach a higher state of consciousness. This approach helps improve spiritual health and overall wellbeing.

4. Bach flower treatments were developed by a physician named Edward Bach. The flowers are supposed to treat mental and emotional imbalances that have adverse effects on the body. Treating conditions like depression and anxiety promotes better health.

5. Biofeedback is an approach that appears to be effective in treating conditions in which the individual lacks body awareness, as in cases of autism. Many people, including non-autistic individuals, do not pay attention to their bodies. Biofeedback provides a means to become conscious of the body beyond the five senses. This approach is still under investigation and is not recommended for everyone.

6. Color therapy uses color to promote healing. Certain colors correspond to areas of the body and some are thought to have healing properties. The individual is surrounded by the colors, both externally and internally. He visualizes the color, wears clothes and eats foods of the same hue in order to enjoy the healing properties.

7. Crystal therapy uses seven points of the in order to achieve balance within the body. The process unblocks the chakras, allowing the energy to flow naturally in the body. Each chakra corresponds with a specific body system and corresponding crystals or stones are used in the treatment.

8. Polarity therapy was founded by a physician named Randolph Stone, who was particularly interested in the occult. The approach seeks to create balance between positive an negative (plus and minus) polarities within the body. The theory suggests that illnesses are manifestations of negative thoughts and emotions.

9. Sound therapy asserts that the organs of the body correspond to vibrations that are attached to them. Music can promote health by creating balance in the vibrations of the organs. Sound therapy is a meditative process that seeks to create harmony within the body’s systems.

10. Massage therapy is the most popular and the most widely accepted new age alternative healing approaches. Different facets of traditional massage therapies emerge as forms of healing treatments. Polarity therapy is among the massage techniques. Others include reflexology and shiatsu.

New age alternative healing approaches have some similarities to one another and they have some commonalities within alternative medicine as well. Many of the techniques focus on energy and spirituality, making them distinct from traditional medicine.
