Stress is a killer, and it is a condition that most adults will experience at some point in their lives. Unfortunately, many live with great amounts of stress every single day. Did you know that there are superfoods for reducing stress? It’s true – you can eat your way to a more relaxed state.

Tea is the Best Stress Buster
If you live a high stress life, or work in a high stress job, you should be unwinding each day with a nice cup of tea. You should not, however, be sipping tea all day, or even multiple times during the day, because it does contain caffeine. If you are trying to de-stress, you should avoid caffeine, with the exception of at least one or two cups of tea. Try chamomile tea as well as other types of herbal teas that are known for their relaxing properties.
Chocolate is a Comfort Food and an Anti-Stress Food
Most people love chocolate, but we tend to think of it as an unhealthy food. Chocolate can be unhealthy if it is consumed in large amounts, or consumed too often. Dark chocolate, however, is healthy, and it does contribute to reduced stress.
Dark chocolate provides you with lots of important antioxidants, and if anything is toxic to the body, stress is toxic. It is also known for lowering the blood pressure, which actually helps you to feel more relaxed. The right amount of dark chocolate each day is approximately the size of one third of a candy bar.
Additional Superfoods to Relieve Stress
Any food that is rich in magnesium is good for relieving stress. It helps to reduce blood pressure, but it also helps the muscles to contract and relax more naturally, which relieves muscle tension associated with stress. Berries are also a great food for relieving stress. Berries are full of Vitamin C, which is essential in reducing stress, and they are also naturally sweet. Most people crave sweets when they are under stress.
Finally, when you experience stress, you can be certain that your body is burning vitamin B at a high rate, and this can really bring you down, and increase the amount of stress that you feel. To combat this, during moments of high stress, eat an avocado as soon as possible. This is the fastest way to supply the body with more vitamin B, and it helps to actually reduce your stress.
