Organic Macadamia Oil for Hair

Has your hair lost its luster and sheen? Is it looking unhealthy? There are thousands of products on the market that promise help, but not all of them work, and most are not made of natural products. You might consider organic macadamia oil for hair instead of those other products.

Where Macadamia Oil Comes From

Macadamia oil comes from macadamia nuts. The nuts are cold pressed to extract the oils. Another process is to extract the oil using a solvent. You want the oil that was produced from cold pressing. Once the oil is extracted, it is filtered. Many people do not realize it, but this oil is often used in perfumes, as a base fixative.

Please note that there is macadamia oil, and there is organic macadamia oil. Organic macadamia oil is cold pressed, and comes from macadamia nuts that were organically grown – without the use of chemicals. When you shop for this oil, check with your local health food store, or use online resources, but make sure that the product that you purchase is organic.

Is Macadamia Oil Better than Soy Oil?

Soy oil has been the standard oil for hair treatments for sometime. This is commonly used in hot oil treatments. The problem with soy oil, however, is that it actually can have a drying effect – drying your hair and your scalp instead of providing the moisture that you need.

If your hair is naturally oily, however, you will probably do better using soy oil rather than macadamia oil. If your hair is normal or dry, go with the organic macadamia oil instead of soy oil.

How to Apply Macadamia Oil to Your Hair

Applying macadamia oil to your hair is quite easy and trouble free. Use just a small amount. Pour the oil in your hands, and rub them together slightly – just so that the oil isn’t dripping everywhere. Run your hands through your hair, and then wrap it with a scarf before going to bed. Use silk or satin, as this won’t absorb like cotton or polyester will. When you wake up in the morning, style your hair as usual – there is no need to wash the macadamia oil out of your hair until your next regular shampoo.
