Whether you realize it or not, the chances are good that you probably have a sugar addiction. You crave sugar. You may refer to this as your sweet tooth, but in reality, it is an actual addiction that your body has, which is really no different than an addiction the human body can have to alcohol or tobacco, or even illegal drugs. The body craves it. You need natural remedies to stop sugar cravings and to break the addiction.

Start Breaking the Sugar Addiction
Start slowly. You don’t have to give up sugar completely and go cold turkey right out of the gate. Instead, start using sugar substitutes as much as you can, and find foods that will satisfy your hunger that do not contain sugar, or at the very least contain less sugar.
Each week, scale your sugar intake back a little bit more than the previous week, and continue to do this until you are living a sugar free life. Some alternatives for sugar are fruit, which contains natural sugars instead of refined sugar. You will be amazed at how much fruit can reduce your sugar cravings.
Stop Using Sugar Cold Turkey
This is the hardest way to break your sugar addiction. It takes a great deal of will power and determination. You simply stop using any sugar at all, eating foods that contain sugar, and even stop eating foods that contain natural sugar.
The first three days will be the hardest. You can expect to have a headache, and you may even feel shaky and irritable. If you make it past the third day without caving in, however, you have pretty much kicked your sugar habit, and now you just need to learn to either live without sugar, or to only consume sugar in moderation.
Get the Right Nutrients to Break Your Sugar Addiction
No matter which method you use to break your sugar addiction, you will benefit by making sure that you are getting enough of two very important nutrients. These are calcium and magnesium. Believe it or not, when you don’t get enough of these two nutrients, your body will actually crave sugar, even if it would not have craved sugar otherwise.
The best sources for these important nutrients come from foods, instead of multivitamins. Consider almonds, white beans, soy beans, and other foods that are high in one or both of these nutrients, and ideally you should consume these foods everyday, before a sugar craving occurs.
