You only get one chance to make a first impression. Your smile can have a huge effect on that impression. To maintain a healthy white smile you should continue to brush and floss your teeth twice daily, rinse your mouth well after each meal, brush your teeth after meals if possible and you should see your dentist for regular examinations and cleanings.

Many products offer teeth whitening as does your dentist, for a price. But did you know that you can whiten your own teeth naturally with the foods in your pantry?
Natural Foods You Can Eat to Whiten Your Teeth
By adding natural foods such as apples and strawberries to your daily diet you can help to whiten your smile. Strawberries contain enzymes which can naturally whiten the teeth. Lemons are also considered to offer teeth whitening properties and many people use this method with success, remember that lemon juice is very acidic and could damage the enamel of the teeth so make sure to brush after any application that involves lemons or lemon juice to completely remove these acids.
Another way to let the foods you eat help to whiten and brighten your smile is to avoid the ones that are known to stain your teeth. If you can avoid coffee, tea, red wines, colas, dark berries and fruits you can help to reduce the amount of stains on your teeth. If you simply must include these in your diet, brush and rinse your teeth after consuming them to minimize the stains.
Natural Foods Applied as Teeth Whiteners
Some natural foods can be applied to or rubbed directly onto the teeth for whitening. Some of these include strawberries, the inside of orange peels, lemons and baking soda. When using strawberries or other foods rubbed on the teeth keep in mind that they contain a lot of natural sugars as well, be sure you brush using regular toothpaste following an application of these foods.
Natural Foods Incorporated as Teeth Whiteners
Several recipes exist to help whiten your teeth that incorporate the use of natural foods into soaks, rinses or pastes to be used on your teeth. Some of these include:
- A mixture of salt and lime juice to be used to clean your teeth each morning and after your evening meal.
- Gargling with apple cider vinegar mixed with water 2 to 3 times each day.
- Baking soda mixed with a few drops of lemon juice.
- Baking soda, salt and white vinegar for 2 minutes followed by rinsing the mouth with water and then brushing with regular toothpaste for another two minutes.
