If you have Acid Reflux Disease, also known as GERD or Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease, you need relief. While relief can be found at your doctor’s office, you may prefer natural cures and remedies for GERD instead.

Start Drinking
When Acid Reflux strikes you should start drinking. Don’t start drinking alcohol, however. Alcohol will only make the situation worse. Instead drink water – lots of water. Another option that works for many people is milk. Both will settle, or neutralize, the stomach acids that are causing your misery. Many experts suggest drinking a big glass of water or milk immediately after a meal to stop symptoms from ever starting.
Other beverages choices that can help to fight the symptoms of acid reflux are chamomile tea, fennel tea, and surprisingly, apple cider vinegar. However, you shouldn’t guzzle the vinegar down – and you probably wouldn’t want to. Instead, just consume a couple of teaspoons mixed in a glass of warm water. Aloe juice is another option, but it doesn’t taste very good.
Start Eating
There are certain foods that you can eat to help neutralize the stomach acids. Many people are turning to Papaya, which is a wonderful fruit. You can eat fresh papaya, but most people get better results with a Papaya Enzyme Pill.
Additionally, almonds seem to help. Eat them right after a meal for best results, and make sure that you chew them up very well. Although citrus fruits can make the problem worse, some people have good results with apples, eaten immediately after a meal. You can also eat candied ginger – or if you prefer – chew a piece of ginger root. Ginger tea is also an option.
Start Chewing
You don’t have to chew food – or tobacco to get rid of acid reflux symptoms. Instead, chew gum. Chewing gum produces more saliva, and saliva helps to neutralize stomach acids – even acids that are coming up through your esophagus. Choose a fruity gum, instead of a minty gum for best results.
As you can see, there are many things that you can do for your acid reflux, aside from taking prescription medications. However, if none of these remedies work, you most likely need to see your doctor for additional testing and for other types of medications.
