By now, you have probably heard about the vast health benefits of fish oil. You may have already included this in your diet. If you haven’t, you are missing out on those essential health benefits. But today, we are hearing more about Krill oil. When it comes to Krill Oil and Fish Oil, which one is the best choice?

Krill Oil vs. Fish Oil – What is Fish Oil?
Fish oil comes from the livers of certain types of fish. The oil is essential because it contains important Omega-3 Fatty Acids. These Omega-3 Fatty Acids help to combat conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and numerous mental health issues.
The oil comes from what we know as oily fish. This includes lake trout, flounder, tuna, salmon, and mackerel, but in recent years, the FDA has forced manufacturers to be more careful in the production of Fish Oil because of the high level of toxins found in these fish as well.
Krill Oil vs. Fish Oil – What is Krill Oil?
Krill Oil comes from Krill’s – small sea creatures that resemble shrimp. These creatures are primarily used to feed other fish in aquariums and such. Before this happens, however, the oil is extracted from the Krill. Like Fish Oil, this oil also contains important Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Unlike Fish Oil, Krill Oil also contains an antioxidant known as Astaxanthin. Aside from this, Krill Oil has also been reportedly valuable in the prevention and treatment of arthritis. Overall, the FDA considers Krill Oil to be safer than Fish Oil, because of the reduced level of toxins that are found in Krill.
Krill Oil vs. Fish Oil – Which one is better?
As more research is being done, it is becoming apparent that Krill Oil is preferred over Fish Oil – for numerous reasons. First, there are the added health benefits of Krill Oil. Krill Oil also has half the calories and other things that we should avoid as fish oil has. Those who use Krill Oil do not experience a fishy taste in their mouths, or experience the burping that often accompanies the use of fish oil. Krill oil also contains natural sources of Vitamin A and Vitamin D, which cannot be said for Fish Oil.
Unfortunately, as great as Krill Oil sounds, it does have its drawbacks. For example, it costs more than Fish Oil. Krill are becoming extinct, and if it is the Omega-3 Fatty Acids that you are seeking, Fish Oil has higher levels of these important fatty acids.
