Many people avoid speaking public because of fear or anxiety. Speaking in public is a stressful event for most people who have not yet discovered the secrets to overcoming this fear. At some point in your life you will probably need to speak publicly either in a professional event or a private gathering. You should know the fear can be overcome and you can give a successful and enjoyable speech for your audience whether large or small.

How to Overcome Public Speaking Fear by Building Your Confidence
Confidence is a key point of public speaking. You have been asked to speak on a particular subject because someone believes that you know the subject well. If you are confident that you know the subject well you have won half the battle.
Instead of telling yourself that you are afraid of speaking publicly and worrying about getting tongue tied and becoming “speechless” tell yourself that you know your subject well, you are excited to share this knowledge with your audience. Look at yourself in the mirror into your eyes and say it over and over “I know this subject, I am able to share this knowledge with these people who want to know it”. If you exude confidence in yourself you audience will be confident in you and what you are saying to them.
How to Overcome Public Speaking Fear – Preparation for Speaking
Everyone needs to prepare for a public speaking engagement. The trick is to not over prepare. Make an outline of the key points you want to share with your audience. Do not write out word for word what you want to say and attempt to memorize it. In your outline write your key points in bold large writing and if you choose to make notes of some information about the key points list them under the key point. Do not overload your audience with too much information. Decide which 2 or 3 key points you want your audience to remember and make them, reinforce them with helpful information to drive them home and make them memorable. If you have written too much information you will find yourself trying to read the speech instead of talking to and connecting with your audience. Less is more in the area of speech notes.
How to Overcome Public Speaking Fear – The Human Factor
If possible before giving your speech attempt to mingle with those you will be speaking to. This helps you to know that they are human, just as they know you are human. They are no more perfect than you are. By establishing a rapport with those you will be speaking to you are more relaxed and you are more able to be yourself and deliver the information on a more personal level to your audience.
