How important is Sex to Your General Health?

When we think of sex, we are usually only thinking in terms of pleasure or love. We are seldom thinking about our health, unless it is protecting ourselves from sexually transmitted diseases. Have you ever considered how important sex is to your general health?

The Psychological Effects of Sex

First, you must consider the psychological effects of sex. Those effects could be good or bad – and there are good or bad effects whether you are having sex or not. This is how important sex is for adults. It has an effect regardless of how you look at it – or whether you are getting it or not.

Sex often serves to strengthen the bond between two people, in some aspects, or at the very least from one person. Too often, we go to the extreme, where we place far too much importance on sex, as it relates to how strong the relationship is.

The Physical Effects of Sex

There have been studies that have proven that men who have sex regularly don’t have as high a risk of developing prostate cancer. Then there is the fact that sex can relieve a great deal of tension and stress. Both of these must be considered when you think of your sex life.

One physical effect of sex that few of us ever even think about is that when we have sex more often, we are more likely to take care of our physical fitness. We are more likely to keep our weight down and exercise more often – simply because we want to look good naked, and we want to feel that we have the ability to turn on our partner, from a visual aspect.

What Happens when there is no Sex?

You won’t die if you don’t have sex, but you won’t be as happy or as physically fit if you never have orgasms. This is why masturbation typically becomes necessary when there is no actual sex going on. There is new research into orgasm without actual masturbation that is coming to light these days as well, where you can actually achieve an orgasm with your thoughts alone.

Then again, you must consider those who never have sex, and remain virgins their entire lives. There are actually many people in the world who opt to never have sexual intercourse – and never experience an orgasm. These people typically have found other types of joy in their lives, and because they have never had sex, they don’t miss it in their lives. They also have the ability to live just as healthy as any other person on the planet – without the health benefits of sex. So in the end, you must wonder whether it is the joy in your life that brings good health, or the joy that sex brings that makes sex healthy.
