Herbal Therapy For Acne And Endometriosis

Herbal therapy is becoming more and more popular in the western world as people try to opt for healthier and more natural healing methods. While herbal therapy can be used for several specific conditions, this article will focus on herbal therapy for acne treatment and endometriosis.

Acne Treatment Using Herbal Therapy

Acne is best known as an aesthetic problem because the pimples, blemishes, blackheads and whiteheads are sometimes unsightly. However, for some people with severe acne, it can also be quite painful. There are different herbs that can be used to help treat acne and not all of them serve the same purpose.

To relieve pain, you can use raw papaya extract, fresh mint extract or garlic extract. For anti-inflammation purposes, you can use echinacea or poke root. Some other herbal products can also help clear the skin by removing toxins. These herbal therapy products are: bergamot, chamomile, dandelion root, juniper and lavender.

Some Ayurvedic treatments for acne include: neem (azadirachta indica), haemafine syrup or shuddha guggul capsules (commiphora mukul). If you don’t have access to any of these herbal products, you can also try these homemade combinations and apply them directly to the zits: lemon juice and vinegar or ground ginger and milk.

Although it is recognized that acne is not caused by such things as diet or other external factors, you should avoid touching the acne prone areas or popping the zits with your hands as you could infect your skin and leave scars. Wash your face in the morning and at night.

Herbal Therapy For Endometriosis

Women who suffer from endometriosis are not alone. There are millions of cases worldwide. Endometriosis is a disease that occurs when the endometrium tissue becomes misplaced outside of the uterus. The tissue tends to remain in the general vicinity of the ovaries or fallopian tubes but could end up anywhere in the body. It turns into lesions or growths that follow the menstrual cycle and therefore internal bleeding results every month.

Endometriosis is associated with pain, tension, cramps and potential infertility and cannot be cured. Traditional treatment options include pain medication, hormonal therapy, surgery or alternative treatments, which could be hydrotherapy, acupressure, acupuncture or herbal treatments.

Herbal therapy for endometriosis could be accompanied with acupuncture and perhaps a change in diet to become vegetarian or vegan. Meat and products derived from animals are often exposed to hormones, which could worsen the symptoms of endometriosis.

An herb that may be helpful in easing the pain associated with this condition is Valerian. If you suffer from cramps, you could also try wild yam or black cohosh. There are Chinese herbs that may be useful in treating endometriosis but the composition of the treatment, its frequency and its potency should be assessed on a case-by-case basis by a competent herbalist.

You should consult your healthcare specialist before beginning any kind of treatment as some herbs may have estrogenic properties, which can make your situation worse.
