Dandruff is unsightly and causes itching and embarrassment.  A good home remedy for an itchy scalp caused by dandruff includes the use of Fenugreek seeds.  Soak 2 tablespoons of the fenugreek seeds overnight in water.  They will soften by morning and you will be able to mash or grind them into a paste.  Apply the paste directly to your scalp and leave it in place for approximately one hour.  After an hour shampoo the paste off of your scalp and rinse your hair and scalp thoroughly.

Your scalp can become irritated and actually feel sore and painful.  The irritation can be caused by many things such as sunburn or hair dye reaction.  A good home remedy for an itchy scalp that is also irritated and sore is to use a mixture olive oil with crushed rosemary leaves in it.  You can also use rosemary oil.  Apply this mixture to your scalp and massage it in, leave it on for about 15 minutes and then rinse it out.   To soothe sores that may form on your scalp you can use chamomile oil.  Just use a clean dry cloth and dot it onto the sore areas.

When the acid and alkaline balance of the scalp is out of balance it can cause an itchy scalp.  Bacteria forms and clogs the pores blocking natural oils from being secreted through the hair follicles onto the scalp.  Restoring the proper balance can kill the pore blocking and allow your hair follicles to secrete oils naturally.  A good home remedy for an itchy scalp with crusting and sores is using apple cider vinegar diluted half and half with water.  You apply the mixture to your scalp and allow it to dry.  You do not have to rinse this out.  A few alternatives suggest using full strength apple cider vinegar or lemon juice applied directly to the scalp, but these applications must be rinsed out.
