What Causes Large Facial Pores?

Some people have large pores simply due to their genetics. In most cases, nothing can be done about this. However, there are things that you may be doing or not doing that could cause the pores to appear large.

Large pores can be caused by sun damage, changes in the hormones, acne and blackheads, dehydration of the skin, dirt or oil trapped in the pores, poor cleansing habits, excess oil production, poor nutrition, the use of makeup, and smoking. Temporary illnesses and conditions can also cause large pores, including menopause or puberty, and some medications can also lead to larger pores.

How to Treat Large Pores Effectively

The most effective way to treat large pores is to find the actual cause. Look again at the usual causes of large pores, and see which reasons apply to you and start making changes. The chances are good that you will see a significant change within a couple of weeks, if not sooner.

You can find a wide range of over-the-counter products to help treat large pores, and you can also find a wide range of home remedies on the internet. Not all of these remedies will work for you. If you’ve made all of the changes that you can, and nothing is helping, you might consider microdermabrasion, chemical peels, deep cleaning facials, or laser resurfacing.

What to Do if Your Pores are Still Large

If your pores are still large, despite the home treatments and over-the-counter treatments that you have tried, you can visit the dermatologist. He or she may be able to supply you with a treatment, a cream, or an internal medication that could reduce the size of the pores. It could, however, be that you just naturally have large pores, and that there is nothing that can be done about it.

If this is the case, there are many cosmetic solutions to hide large pores, but these cosmetics could also clog those pores so it is vital that you cleanse your face very well at the end of each day, and that you remove all makeup before going to bed so that your pores can do what they exist to do without hindrance.
