Some of the mentionable maternal placental syndromes are pre-aclampsia and high blood pressure.

There is a profound risk of impact of cardiovascular disease on the mother and the fetus. Some of the factors associated with the risks of spontaneous abortion, maternal placental syndrome, acute arterial or venous thrombosis and preterm labor or premature membrane ruptures are hypertension, smoking, diabetes, thrombophilia and hyperlipidemia. With all these risk factors present the mother is likely to develop a chronic hypertension, stroke, coronary artery disease and peripheral arterial disease.

The other probable risk factors are maternal obesity and gestational diabetes. Maternal obesity may also result in preclampsia, gestational hypertension and diabetes and a fetal birth weight of 4kg and more.

Peripartum Cardiomyopathy:

This is a condition related to the heart muscle and may even cause death in the patient and also result in a condition called arrhythmia where the heart beats are irregular. This also causes heart attacks. It occurs between the last month of pregnancy and the first five postpartum months even in the women who did not have any cardiac disease. Signs and symptoms of this are fatigue, abdominal discomfort and distention, chest pain, orthopnea and peripheral edema.

Maternal placental Syndrome:

When preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, placental abruption, or placental infarction is present in pregnant women it is together called the maternal placental syndrome. This syndrome was found to occur in 7% of the 1.03 million who were not suffering with any cardiovascular disease before pregnancy.

Hypertension in pregnancy:

When the systolic and diastolic pressure of the heart of a patient is more than 140mm Hg and 90 mm Hg respectively, then the person is said to be suffering from a hypertension. Chronic hypertension, gestational hypertension, and preeclampsia are the three types of hypertension that may likely occur in pregnant women. An average of about 18% of the pregnancies is prone to hypertension which may also result either in maternal morbidity or mortality.

The only way to stay away from such fatal complications is to learn to maintain fitness by doing the regular exercises and for women who are pregnant it must preferably be a yoga exercise regimen.
