Airbrush tanning has gained a great deal of popularity. It does cost more than sunbed usage, but to date, research has not uncovered any dangers associated with airbrush tanning. This type of tanning takes place in a spray both, where sprayers eject dihydroxyacetone. This chemical is not absorbed by the skin, but your eyes, your lips, and your nostrils must be protected from the mist. Unfortunately, the effects of airbrush tanning do not last very long, and if you wish to keep your tan, you will have to repeat the process often.

Spray Tanning Products for Home Use

Back in the 1980s, when we were first becoming more aware of the dangers of the sun, many manufacturers released tanning sprays and creams that are used in the home, without professional assistance. Unfortunately, there were many orange people running around the earth due to the usage of these products, and the tint from the product would often rub off on clothing and furniture.

There has been some improvement in these products over the years, but as with airbrush tanning, the effects do not last very long at all, and the results usually are not as great as you would get at a professional salon. This method of tanning is, however, cheaper than airbrush tanning.

In the end, despite the dangers, the best solution to sunbeds is the sun. You actually need sunshine for healthy living because of the chemicals that it produces in your brain, and the vitamins that are absorbed from the sun, through the skin.

You do not, however, need to spend hours and hours in the sunshine without protection. Just a few minutes of sunshine each day, with sunscreen protection, will result in a light, healthy looking tan, and you won’t be at great risk for skin cancers and such either. Make sure that you are wearing the right sunscreen protection, based on your skin type and the strength of the sun, and that you are moisturizing your skin properly after exposure to the sun as well. Finally, be patient. You will tan, but with protection, it does take a while.
