If you are losing your hair, or you have an itchy scalp, or any other scalp or hair issues, you may need a healing method known as Trichology. This type of healing is provided by a Trichologist. It is important to realize that this type of healing is not just for hair loss or baldness. The healing practice can be used for all issues that relate to the hair or the scalp.

Trichology for a Multitude of Hair and Scalp Issues
This healing practice can be used to treat a variety of problems, including psoriasis, baldness, hair loss, Alopecia, itching scalps, dry hair and scalp, oily hair and scalp, and more. Not only is this healing practice used for these issues, but it can also be used in forensic science, to discover the age, sex, size, health, and other information about a person, based solely on samples of their hair.
Often, the professional can see the problem right from the start, and develop a plan or treatment for that problem. However, in other cases, where a hair or scalp problem is caused by something that the professional cannot see, he or she will request that you have specific blood work done through your doctor, and that the results be shared with them. Note that most of these professionals are not doctors themselves.
The Trichology Exam
An exam by one of these professionals usually starts with a quick examination of your hair and scalp, but the majority of the exam will include numerous questions. You may answer questions about your hair care and habits, your family history, the foods you eat, the activities that you participate in, and more. All of these questions are designed to find out what is really going on with your hair and scalp, and honesty is essential to this healing practice.
The History of Trichology
The word Trichology comes from the Greek Language and the practice is just over a hundred years old. Although the name comes from the Greek, the practice did not get its official name until about 1902, and ironically, the name was established by the British, and not the Greek.
Regulation of Trichology Practices
There is no one licensing or regulating organization for Trichologists. Many doctors and other health workers, however, will often take classes to learn this scientific healing practice, and some learn it without a background in healthcare as well. Many cosmetologists who specialize in hair will become trichologists as well. With that said, however, there are important organizations that any trichologist that you use should be a member of, such as the Institute of Trichologists, The International Association of Trichologists, and the Trichological Society.
