Hoshino Therapy is a unique blend of massage therapy and acupuncture. The goal of the therapy is prevention, but it is also helpful when treating medical conditions. Hoshino Therapy combines the warmth of the therapists hand, with the pressure of acupuncture and pressure points. The warmth and pressure has the ability to relieve pain immediately. The therapy was developed by Tomezo Hoshino in the 1940s, and was used as a treatment for those with muscoloskeletal pain. The theory behind Hoshino Therapy is that the warmth and movement softens the muscles that have grown hard from dysfunction. The aim of Hoshino Therapy is to reverse the effects of the dysfunction, and restore flexibility, and normal functioning of the muscles. Hoshino believes that the hands have the power to sense the tendon and muscle stimulation, and feel the healing that is occurring.

Hoshino Therapy is helpful in treating conditions such as sciatica, bursitis, osteoarthritis, and various other ailments. It can also help ease general pain that includes backaches, tension headaches, and general pain. Hoshino Therapy may increase flexibility, help prevent developing conditions, and improve posture.

Benefits of Hoshino Therapy include: Increased flexibility and range of motion; Relief of chronic pain; Improved posture.
Hoshino Therapy treats a variety of conditions such as: sciatica; joint pain and stiffness; carpal tunnel syndrome; frozen shoulder; tendonitis; ankle and foot pain; back and neck pain; sports injuries.
Arthrosis is the term that was developed by Hoshino Therapy to describe forms of arthritis. It is a broad term that is meant to encompass the hardening of soft tissue in the body. Hoshino Therapy is able to relieve this hardening, unlike other massage therapy techniques. Hoshino Therapy only uses the hands of the practitioner, and the client is responsible for no movement. It is necessary for the practitioner to apply the correct pressure with their hand, and apply it in the correct locations on the body.
History of Hosino Therapy
Tomezo Hoshino, the developer of Hoshino Therapy, was a Japanese acupuncturist, who developed bursitis in his shoulder. He found that acupuncture was not healing the condition, so he travelled up a mountain, vowing not to return until he had healed the condition. The cure he found while up there became Hoshino Therapy.
Hoshino was born in Japan, and when he was sixteen years old he was injured in an accident which left him blind. In need of a profession, he chose Hama massage, which is a bodywork method specifically designed for blind practitioners. Eighteen months after his accident, he received another blow to the head that restored his sight. Deciding he no longer wanted to practice massage with the ability to see, he wanted to travel the world. It was on a trip to Argentina that someone noticed his hands and inspired him to become an acupuncturist.
The Hoshino school, located in Hoshino’s adopted homeland of Argentina, is officially recognised by the Association of Kinesiology as a post graduate area of specialisation. The certification in Hoshino Therapy is something that is offered to certain licensed health professionals in the medical field.
What to expect from Hoshino Therapy
The initial visit to a Hoshino practitioner will consist of an evaluation where you will discuss your condition and the plan of attack. If the medical condition is chronic in nature, and has been diagnosed, the Hoshino practitioner will probably require a physician’s release and medical history.
Subsequent treatments will last about an hour. Typically, relief will come within the first three or four treatments. You may also notice increased flexibility. The speed with which Hoshino Therapy will heal you will depend upon your overall health and the severity of the condition. Each patient will be given an individual treatment plan. The practitioner will also recommend at-home exercises that should be performed on the daily basis, in order to enhance the effects of treatment. There may also be lifestyle change, support braces, or nutrition recommendations.

Hello Alex
This is Bodhi Kocica’s son from the Hoshino Therapy clinic in Miami. Perhaps you have heard of us since you know Hoshino. I was curious as to how you learned Hoshino Therapy and from who. Perhaps you know Richard Zukowski? My father and Richard trained with Professor Hoshino from the 70’s through the 80’s. Let’s get in touch. There’s so few of us Hoshino therapists and Im happy to see that there is other practitioners popping up all around. Hope to hear from you soon.
