The Emmett Technique, created by Ross Emmett, is a unique technique for body therapy. It offers people a way to improve their health, reducing the pain discomfort they may feel due to a variety of conditions.
The Emmett Technique was developed over a period of many years. Ross Emmett drew upon his innate ability to adapt treatment to suit each individual patient; the Emmett Technique is known as the chameleon approach. A qualified Emmett technician is equipped with the skills that allow them to read a person’s body and determine the necessary treatment.

Emmett Technique Biography
Ross Emmett has a special, unique gift that makes it possible for him to see his patient’s needs.
From 1981 to 1999, Ross Emmett ran a busy Mt Isa clinical practice. From the year 1999 to 2008 he ran a practice in Townsville. Ross has left his practice to travel the world, so that he may teach the Emmett Technique to a wide range of students.
The original massage business on Mount Isa which was where Ross Emmett developed his reputation for fast, effective results amongst clients. The clinic received an average of 100 patient visits per week.
With the clinic’s location being in the Australian Outback, many of the clients who visited were people who worked on remote mines or cattle stations. These people were limited in the amount of time they could spend receiving treatment, but the Emmett Technique delivered them the comfort they required.
Emmett Technique and Bowen Therapy
Ross Emmett attended a Bowen Therapy course in Brisbane in 1988. Following this event he began to work towards integrating Bowen Therapy with his existing ideas about massage treatment. The results were outstanding.
Many Bowen Therapists are now paying close attention to the Emmett Technique. A number of courses teaching a combination of Bowen Therapy and Emmett technique have sprung up.
The two therapies are both relatively new, thus the combined therapy is on the cutting edge of massage therapy. The combined therapy is results driven and may allow for pain relief results to be achieved more effectively than ever before.
Emmett Technique Description

The Emmett Technique involves applying pressure to particular points on the body. This is done in a special sequence so to enable the release of tension stored in various muscle groups.
The technique can be used on its own, or in conjunction with other muscle release or neuro-musculoskeletal therapies.
At its core, the Emmett Technique attempts to reset muscle memory. By unlocking muscle memory, the brain is provided with a chance to interrupt the biofeedback loop and heal the initial illness that caused the stress to accumulate in the muscle in the first place. The results of Emmett Technique can be dramatic for patients even on their first treatment.
Becoming an Emmett Technique Practitioner
A broad cross-section of medical professionals are choosing to become trained in the Emmett Technique. Once training is complete, practitioners are said to become highly adaptable to their clients’ needs.
Courses in the Emmett Technique consist of six modules. Assessment is thorough and all six modules must be completed in order before qualifications are bestowed. There are, additionally, seminars held which cover special topics such as the integration of Emmett Technique with other therapies.
Modules are typically taught in one day, over an eight hour session. Courses are taught by Ross Emmett or Emmett Instructors, who are practitioners whoa have themselves completed training in the Emmett Technique.

Hi Carol Fisher from the UK. One of Ross’s teachers, Reggie is in the UK regularly.
There are 6 modules taught in groups of two. You do module 1 and 2, have a break, then repeat 2 and do 3, have a break, then repeat 3 and do 4 and so on.
