Life coaching can be a rewarding career, and the pay is usually great. If you are serious about becoming a life coach, you will need to get certification as a life coach from the International Coaching Federation in order to be successful and to be taken seriously in the profession. One way to obtain this certification is to attend a life coaching academy.
As our lives become more stressful and more complicated, we have a greater need of someone who can help us to find our way over or around the roadblocks that are thrown in front of us, as well as the roadblocks that we throw in front of ourselves. This is what life coaches do. Life coaches will often work from their homes, in the client’s home, in offices, or in an online environment. They may also work over the telephone.
Once you’ve obtained your certification, getting set up as a life coach isn’t difficult or overly expensive. You will need a telephone and a computer with an internet connection. You may need additional office equipment, including a fax machine and printer. You will need a date book or scheduling software and you may benefit from professionally printed stationary and invoices. You will of course need a way to accept payment in the form of credit cards as well. Advertising will be necessary, and you will need a budget for this.
Life coaches must have flexible hours to serve their clients. They typically make about $150 per hour, but could earn slightly less or significantly more depending on where they live, the demand for life coaching in that area, the skills and specializations that they have, and the experience that they have. Reputation is also extremely important in this field.
Life coaching academies are a great way to get started in a career, and you do not need previous experience or education. The only thing that you truly need in order to get started is a true interest in people, how they live their lives, why they make the decisions that they make, and an honest desire to help them live happier and more productive lives.
