Health Administration Schools

There is a great need for health administrators, and this is a good reason to start seeking out health administration schools. Early predictions were that the health administration need within the healthcare field would grow by up to 35% by 2010, and those predictions came true. It is expected to grow by that much more by the year 2016, so this is a good time to get in the proverbial door.

If you think that health administrators only work in hospitals, think again. Today, health administrators are being hired in government organizations, by health insurance companies, in medical offices, dental offices, home health care agencies, nursing homes, and more.

Although you could enter health administration with an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree, the most successful and highly paid health administrator have a master’s degree, and in some cases a doctorate degree. The more education you have, of course, the more you will earn annually, and the better chance you have of landing a job that has a great deal of competition. Those who show great leadership skills and managerial skills get the best jobs, and have the greatest level of job security.

The annual salary for a health administrator will be dependent on the education of the individual, and the institution where the individual decides to work, or where they land a job. Hospital administrators tend to make the most money, because these are larger businesses with bigger budgets. Of course, there are only so many hospitals in the world, and each one only needs one administrator. These professionals earn upwards of $150,000 per year.

It is important to note that a Master’s Degree in Business Administration will land you one of these coveted jobs, but a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus or specialization in Healthcare Management will be preferred.
