Aerobics Instructor Courses

If you are a fitness buff, considering a career as an aerobics instructor is wise. However, you do need to be aware of the fact that a job as an aerobics instructor could only be considered part time work at best. Most aerobics instructors both know and can train additional forms of exercise and fitness, or they have other jobs. There are a select few who become personal trainers, as aerobics instructors, for spas or high end clients, and make what amounts to a fulltime income, while working only part time. In any event, if you are interested in this line of work, you will need aerobics instructor courses.

In order to be accepted into any program that offers aerobics instructor courses, you must have a high school diploma. From this point, you can get on-the-job training in some instances, or go through a college or trade school for training. Some schools are fitness or even aerobic specific, and do offer courses for future aerobics instructors.

Many states in the United States will require that you have certification before teaching aerobics classes. Regardless of what the state requires, most health spas, fitness centers, and even private clients will require that you have certification as an aerobics instructor prior to employment with them. Additionally, the credentialing organization, where you receive your certification, may require you to renew your certification every two years or so.

The potential salary for this line of work varies greatly, depending on the facility that you work in, the area where you work, and how many hours you are able to put in each week. Naturally, those who work at spas and for high end private clients tend to earn the highest salaries, but the average hourly salary for an aerobics instructor is about $12 per hour. The outlook in terms of employment is considered to be very good, but employment opportunities will always be better in major cities and metropolitan areas than in rural areas or smaller towns.
