STD’s is an acronym that stands for sexually transmitted diseases. As the name suggests, these are diseases that are passed through contact of bodily fluids during sexual intercourse. Genital herpes is one such disease.
Who Can Get Genital Herpes?
As mentioned earlier, genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease. This means that for one to get the disease, he or she must have had sexual intercourse with an already infected person without using the necessary protection. There is no other possible means that genital herpes may be transmitted other than through sexual intercourse.
Causes of Genital Herpes
Genital herpes is a viral disease. This means that it is caused by a type of virus known as herpes simplex virus. Herpes simplex viruses are of two types which are type 1(HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2). However type two of the herpes simplex virus is more known for causing the genital herpes disease.
