Somewhere in the world, at this very moment, someone is conducting research based on data. We learn a great deal from data, and the general public often relies on the findings that we have. For example, before you move, you will most likely get information about the area that you are moving to. You may even refer to a listing of the top safest cities to live in before making a decision concerning your move. But what about information concerning the 5 most unhealthy countries?

How Healthy and Unhealthy Countries are Determined
Like most information, the information regarding healthy or unhealthy countries comes from data. This data typically includes instances of diseases – whether they are deadly or not – and death rates, as well as the most common causes of death in an area.
Other information that may come into play in this determination, however, also includes the availability of healthcare, as well as the quality of the healthcare that is available – and the public’s ability to obtain that healthcare. A great deal of data goes into determining the 5 unhealthiest countries on earth, and this information is usually filtered to and through the World Health Organization.
The 5 Most Unhealthy Countries
Based on the death rates of all of the countries in the world, the five unhealthiest countries are:
- Swaziland – The death rate in Swaziland is 30.70 per 1000 people annually.
- Angola – The death rate in Angola is 24.44.
- Lesotho – The death rate in Lesotho is 22.33.
- Sierra Leone – The death rate in Sierra Leone is 22.26, per 100 people annually.
- Liberia – Liberia has a death rate of 21.45 per 1000 people annually.
How Accurate is the List of Unhealthy Countries?
The accuracy of the list depends greatly on what factors are being considered. Not all factors are always considered, and therefore, instead of asking what the unhealthiest countries are, you might ask what countries are the unhealthiest based on the number of deaths from AIDS? What countries are the unhealthiest based on the availability of clean water and healthy food? You see, in the case of undeveloped countries – or underdeveloped countries – you must look at specific circumstances when making a comparison, because the general health of the population will tell you very little. Our list, for example, only takes the death rate of a country into account to determine the health of the country, without any regard to deaths from specific illnesses or the age of the people when they die.
